A Website for Humans. And Machines.

I've been thinking a lot recently about where I see the world going, particularly when it comes to creativity, technology and the way we work.

I've really embraced AI and what it can do. It's been an interesting subject, and one that's created plenty of debate with the people I work with every day. Particularly around where we find value as creatives, and how that might change as the technology develops.

Not everyone shares the same opinion, and that's fine.

I still really believe in the power of the human mind. The conversations I've been part of, the people I've worked with, the experiences I've had and the ideas that come from those moments. I don't think they can simply be replaced by an LLM or a piece of software.

But I also believe in what this technology can allow us to do.

For me, one of the biggest changes has been the ability to get ideas out of my head and actually do something with them.

I've always had thoughts and ideas that develop quicker than I can write them down, draw them or explain them to someone else. One idea leads to another, and sometimes they just sit there because I haven't had the time or the ability to properly explore them.

AI has helped me close some of those creative loops.

I can take a thought, explore different directions, challenge it, visualise it and develop it into something much quicker than I could before. It doesn't mean every idea is good, or that the software is doing the thinking for me. But it gives me another way to express what's going on in my head.

And I find that pretty exciting.

This website has very much been built with that thinking in mind.

On the front end, it's all about me. My experiences, the work I've done, the things I've been involved in and a little bit about who I am outside of work.

I've tried to make it feel human wherever I can.

I've used hand-generated fonts and handwritten elements. I've built in a living sketchbook where visitors can draw something themselves. You'll find photographs from different points in my career and life, and a few little things hidden around the site.

I wanted people to be able to explore, play and have a bit of fun.

Because I don't think everything needs to be about selling yourself. Sometimes it's just nice to get a sense of the person behind the work.

Then there's the other side of the website.

I've also built an experience specifically for LLMs, structured so that AI can understand who I am, what I've done and what I might be able to help with. As the way people search for information changes, I think it's interesting to explore how a personal website might need to work for both humans and machines.

But rather than just hide all of that away, I thought it would be fun to bring back a classic Mac operating system as the interface.

A bit of nostalgia, and something for people to explore if they find their way there. There are a few Easter eggs hidden in that side of the site too.

The whole process has been a bit of an experiment really. I've been able to design, code and build something myself, using tools that have allowed me to bring ideas to life that I probably wouldn't have attempted a few years ago.

And I've learned a lot along the way.

I don't think AI replaces creativity. I think it gives us different ways to explore it, and I'm interested to see where that takes us.

For now, this is my little corner of the internet. A place to share some work, thoughts, experiences and whatever else I find interesting.

It shouldn't always be about the sell. It should be about being human.

Have fun, explore and drop me a note if you want to chat.
